  • Sons of Korah collection – Psalms 42-49
  • Asaph – Psalm 50
  • David collection – Psalms 51-70 (minus 66-67)
  • No ascription – Psalm 71
  • Solomon – Psalm 72

Who are the Sons of Korah?

  • Numbers 16 – rebellion against Moses’ authority
  • Numbers 26:5-11 – the sons of Korah did not die!
  • 1 Chronicles 6:31-44
    • three choir leaders—Heman, Asaph, and Ethan—all wrote psalms
    • Heman is grandson of the prophet Samuel, who was descended from Korah!
  • 1 Chronicles 9:17-20 – sons of Korah were gatekeepers in charge of the temple grounds and maintenance
    • Prominent clan of worship leaders
