Psalm 37 – How to overcome envy

  • 1-2: Main idea: Don’t envy those who will not last
  • 3-9: Look UP not IN
    • 3: Trust in him
    • 4: Delight in him
    • 5-6: Commit to him
    • 7-9: Be still before him
  • 10-22: Look AHEAD not HERE
    • Remember the fate of the wicked
  • 23-29: Look THROUGH not AT
    • Believe that God will bless his people
  • 30-34: Look OVER not DOWN
    • Trust God to defend you (overlook the offense and persecution coming at you)
    • Don’t look down in shame or defeat
  • 35-40: Look TO not FOR
    • Consider the evidence
    • Don’t go searching for those who will soon perish
